ReCue Privacy Policy

ReCue is a window workspace switcher for macOS. It groups windows and supported tabs from different apps by project, helping you find and bring back windows when you switch tasks.
Core features and local data
ReCue does not use the app to automatically collect, track, or upload your window and project data.
Window titles, tab titles, project names, app lists, usage analytics, crash reports, and other window or project data are not automatically sent by the app to HamsterBase or any third party.
Purchases and license activation
For customers outside mainland China, purchases through the HamsterBase Store are handled by Paddle as the authorized reseller and merchant of record. Paddle processes checkout details such as your name, email address, billing information, payment information, and transaction details under its privacy notice.
For customers in mainland China, purchases are handled by the third-party platform Mianbaoduo. Related sign-in, order, and payment information is processed under Mianbaoduo's policies.
When you redeem or manage a ReCue license on this site, HamsterBase's license service processes the Mianbaoduo order number and device ID you submit. We use them to verify the purchase, activate devices, and list or remove devices activated under that order.
This information is used only for license management. The purchase page does not put the order number in its URL or save it to browser local storage. Treat your order number as a license-management credential and keep it private.
Device ID and license status checks
On first launch, ReCue generates a random device ID and stores it on your Mac. You can view and copy it in the settings pane. The ID is a random string — it does not contain or derive from any personal or hardware information, and it is never linked to your window or project data.
When the app launches, and when you refresh manually in settings, ReCue sends the product name and this device ID to HamsterBase's license service to check the device's license status. The request contains no window titles, tab titles, project names, or other window or project data.
If the network is unavailable or the request fails, ReCue keeps the last known activation status. Saving, searching for, and bringing back windows do not depend on the network.
Identification and position data, not window content
ReCue saves the information needed to identify and restore a window, including the app, a window identifier, its title, display, size, and position. It never copies documents, web pages, or terminal sessions from inside a window.
Saving and restoring happen entirely on your Mac, with no ReCue account or cloud sync required. Purchasing requires a connection to the purchase platform available in your region; redeeming, managing a license, and checking license status require a connection to HamsterBase's license service.
Local storage and system access
ReCue stores projects and window records on your Mac using SwiftData. ReCue does not automatically send this information to HamsterBase or any third party.
ReCue needs macOS Accessibility permission to save and restore windows. Saving tabs from supported apps may also require Automation permission. This access happens only on your machine and is used solely to identify and restore the windows and tabs you chose to save.
The recuectl command-line tool communicates with ReCue over a Unix domain socket restricted to your user account; it never reads or concurrently opens the database directly.
Support email
When you contact support, we receive your email address and the text, error details, and attachments you choose to send. We use them only to respond and troubleshoot the issue. Hide sensitive information in screenshots and window titles before sending them; you can also leave them out when they are not relevant.
Changes to this policy
If ReCue's features change, we may update this policy. The latest version will always be published on this page with its update date.
